FAQ - BEFORE YOU BOOK

HOW CAN I BOOK AN APPOINTMENT?

You can start the booking process by requesting an appointment here.

A $50 non-refundable deposit paid toward your appointment may be required to hold your appointment.

Appointments are confirmed only after we have communicated directly.

Do you accept VENMO, PAYPAL, OR OTHER ELECTRONIC CASH PAYMENTS?

Yes! You can pay your deposit and appointment fee via Venmo, Paypal, Apple Pay, or Zelle. Credit/debit cards, FSA/HSA cards, and cash are also accepted.

Do you accept insurance?

We accept certain out-of network insurance plans! A more accurate question is a) whether your insurance plan covers acupuncture and b) whether you are covered for out-of-network services. If the answer to both of those questions is yes, some or all of your appointment may indeed be covered.

If you have Blue Cross Blue Shield, CIGNA, United Healthcare, or Aetna, check your insurance coverage directly here.

You can also contact us to learn more.

*Please note that many insurance plans have very high deductibles; furthermore, different plans/providers that cover acupuncture offer wildly different and unpredictable payment rates. As such, we may require payment from you out-of-pocket upfront at the time of service until your coverage rates are established (i.e. once the insurance plan reimburses). Once we have received full reimbursement from the insurance company, we will refund you accordingly.

It is also possible to pay out-of-pocket and receive a superbill (coded receipt) from Awakened Alignment which you can submit directly for reimbursement.

Can I pay for acupuncture with my fsa/hsa?

Yes! Many patients use their FSA/HSA plans to pay for acupuncture.

What is your cancellation policy?

We require a minimum of 36 hours’ notice if you need to cancel or re-schedule your appointment. Appointments rescheduled or canceled with less than 36 hours’ notice may be subject to a fee, up to and including the full session rate. No-shows and appointments canceled within 2 hours of the appointment time are charged the full rate of the appointment.

CAN I SCHEDULE housecall SERVICES AT MY HOTEL WHILE I AM TRAVELING TO NYC?

Yes! Let us be an unforgettable part of your NYC experience or a moment of respite during a busy business trip. Acupuncture and many of our other healing tools are easily administered at whatever accommodations you have while traveling. Please contact us to plan your appointment.

FAQ - BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT

HOW long are appointments?

Initial Acupuncture appointments are typically 90 minutes to 2 hours; follow-ups are 60 minutes. EFT sessions are 75 minutes for the initial session and 60 minutes for follow-ups. Appointments can also be customized according to your needs —e.g. longer appointments are available for hybrid acupuncture/EFT sessions, and/or if you request multiple treatment modalities such as cupping, guasha, tui na, etc. Acupuncture facial rejuvenation appointments are approximately 90 minutes+.

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY APPOINTMENT?

Leave yourself ample time before and after your appointment so that you don’t have to rush. Plan to not drink alcohol on the day of your appointment, either before or after. Stay well hydrated; be sure to drink plenty of water after an acupuncture or EFT session. Don’t schedule your appointment before a vigorous workout. Please be sure to have eaten a little something at some point before acupuncture; don’t arrive stuffed or starving.

HOW SHOULD I PREPARE FOR MY HOUSECALL APPOINTMENT?

Simply wear clothes that you can relax in and ensure that you have a quiet and private space for us to meet. Beyond that, feel free to create a relaxing atmosphere however you like. If you like to burn candles, or have certain scents (incense, essential oils), or play your favorite playlist, by all means do so! Generally housecall treatments take place on your bed or couch; when appropriate I will bring a travel table. There is a $50 table fee.

HOW WILL I FEEL AFTER MY APPOINTMENT?

Each person’s experience will be different. Most people feel more relaxed and calm after treatment; you may feel a little loopy or out of it . . . —Some people even say they feel a bit high! This is another good reason why you should allow yourself ample time before moving on to your next obligation. Enjoy it!!
