Emotional Freedom Technique, also known as EFT or Tapping is one of the most powerful transformational tools I have ever encountered*.

EFT can change your life

A quick online search for EFT Tapping will bring you to any number of short videos focused on using this technique to address a variety of issues, such as anxiety. And while a few minutes of self-tapping can indeed take the edge off a situation, I offer concentrated, focused deep-dives to truly reprogram old beliefs and patterns. Rather than put a temporary band-aid on a situation that will recur the very next time a trigger arises, deep EFT can re-write the trigger entirely.

what eft treats

EFT can address everything from anxiety and depression, to physical pain or illness, to trauma/PTSD, to limiting core beliefs and personal patterns that keep us standing in our own way.

how it works

EFT sessions can take place in-person or remotely. I tap my body, you tap yours — and so EFT is perfectly suited to the virtual model.

In an EFT session, I will guide you to gently tap on your own body at the site of specific acupuncture points. (I tap my body, you tap yours.) The tapping of the points activates the energy of our meridian system (the same energy and meridians that are accessed with acupuncture); and the gentle percussive nature of the tapping soothes our nervous system and puts us into a parasympathetic (“rest & digest”) state of safety, relaxation, and healing. From this state, and with the energy flowing through all our meridians, we begin to investigate and verbalize whatever is standing in the way of your optimal health and personal expansion. I will ask you questions, and offer you statements to repeat. Emotions, images, memories, and sensations may arise. During the course of this, I will guide you to offer self-love, forgiveness, and acceptance to WHATEVER is coming up, without shame or blame. This combination of activating the energy, creating safety in the nervous system, and continually offering compassion to self enables truly remarkable levels of healing.

how to best use eft

EFT can be used as a standalone practice or as an adjunct to traditional methods of therapy.

EFT is not psychotherapy. However, it is a mind-body deep-dive that some people may choose to turn to 1) instead of traditional talk therapy; 2) if they are hitting roadblocks in their current therapy; or 3) if they want to really plumb the depths of a particular area of concern. As EFT engages the energetic and BODY level (in addition to the mental level), it can release traumas and transform habits and patterns that are held in our tissues and nervous system. When using EFT as a complementary modality to psychotherapy, it can be particularly useful when you have “talked out” an issue at length but are still falling into the same patterns of behavior and emotions —i.e., when you have not been able to break through.

EFT has the power to benefit anyone who wants to:

  • heal and move past traumas;

  • optimize their physical health and well-being;

  • liberate themselves from pain (physical or emotional);

  • understand and transcend patterns of thought and behavior; and

  • make lasting changes to habits and beliefs that are no longer serving them.

I can’t recommend an EFT session with Katy enough. I recently had my first experience and it was really quite transformative. Katy’s presence was grounded and comforting; she set the space for me to feel safe enough to allow whatever needed to come out to come out. I laughed, I cried (hard), I released so much old stagnant energy and left feeling lighter and calmer. In the past week since the session I’ve also recognized some major truths about myself that I believe appeared in light of our time together. I really feel like this process has helped to expedite some of the things I’ve been working on for much longer in therapy. Thank you Katy! I will definitely be back for more.
